Description: code: 2022-AA an antique, circa 1800, lacquer / wax seal of a turned wood with a bronze or brass stamp,with a coat of arms of the familyTaunay - Taunaij - Taunay le Jeune - Duchemin Taunay -the Taunay family name is documented in the early 16th Century as from Poitiers, France and in 1568 from Alençon,in 1685, after in revocation of the Edict of Nantes, the branche of Jean Taunay (1629-1685) went to Holland for the full lineage see: 28-1942 Nederland's PatriciaatOne of the descendants lived in Suriname: Frederik Taunay, also called Toné or Tonij / Tony). He became owner of several plantations: Het Vertrouwen, Campenburg, Frederiksburg and Thyronne. Around 1814, after being convicted to a fine, he was called the most cruel man of Suriname by Governor Bonham in a report to English superiors.
