This gorgeous antique locket dates from 1898. In a floral motif, the front is chased with scrolls and flowers with draping foliage. Engraved detail brings realism to the flowers and leaves. On the back side, there are engraved patterns and leaves, and personalization--"GMA" and "Aug 22 98" in fancy script. Inside is a lovely photo of a pretty little girl. She must have been the model for the cherub! But the very best part of this locket--it has BOTH original pieces of bevelled glass! It is rare to find glass in a photo locket anymore. When you do, there is usually just one piece. But this one has both! Lastly, because this locket is gold-filled, I have added a vintage gold-filled chain, stamped "ACo 1/20 12K," so that this piece may be worn immediately. Condition: Excellent--locket closes well, no snap, just press to close; something else to mention--a difference of opinion might be expressed regarding "dings"--I believe what might appear as two dings on the back occurred during the engraving or stamping process of the two leafy designs because 1) they are both at the top of each leaf design, and 2) this locket is gold-FILLED, which is not soft like solid gold--one of the advantages of GF! Chain is in excellent condition also. By the way, the locket shows no wear--without hard examination with a 10X loupe on the inside, one would think the locket is solid gold.
