Description: Antique Jean Leon Gerome Ferris print done by J. Hoover in Philadelphia that is beautifully framed under glass in a large 29" wide by 21 1/4" tall gold gilt frame.Ferris was an American painter trained in Philadelphia who was best known for his series of 78 scenes from American History, The Pageant of A Nation which is the largest series of historical paintings done by a single artist. The frame is stunning and it is decorated with ornate flowers. It does have some light flaws (small chips and black tarnish) from age but the four corner joints are tight and secure. The print has a small spot in the rose bush shown close up in the tenth photo. White matting around the print has tanning from age and should be replaced with acid free matting.
