Description: For your consideration is an amazing and extremely detailed antique 19th century carved wood sculpture of the Buddhist deity, Chakrasamvara, embracing his consort, the goddess, Vajravarahi. This is a beautiful work of art that would have most likely been used in religious tantric rituals and meditation practices as well. I did have this piece evaluated and appraised by Mearto, a reputable appraisal company for antiques and fine art, and screenshots of the report are included within this listing (see last two photos in the photos section). I did need to white out some information on the report for privacy reasons and in order to comply with eBay policies, however, I can share additional details such as the recommended insurance value when that time comes. This sculpture remains in very good condition considering its age and the fact that it is made of wood vs. the more commonly seen brass or bronze. This is certainly an indication that it was well cared for. The piece appears to have possibly been sitting or mounted in something else early on (perhaps a wall niche) based on the differences in color around the base. No signatures or markings are present, but my best guess would be that this sculpture originated in Southern or Eastern Asia, Tibet or India specifically. Measurements are: 9 1/2" wide x 3" deep x 17 1/2" tall. Weight is approximately 5 lbs. 6 1/2 oz. Be sure to view all photos as they are considered part of the description and feel free to ask any questions. Additional photos can be taken upon request.
