Description: Antique 1876 History of Alleghany County. It’s in very poor condition however it does contain over 80 prints or plates of various Palatial Residences, Public Buildings, Fine Blocks and Important Manufactories. The first numbered page is 7 and last is 242, if you included the blanks, title page and 1st plate that is correct. The first plate is the View of Braddock’s battle ground, it is the only one of 84 that is not numbered. For the most part the very beginning and end pages are very poor condition and it gets better as you get in. I did notice a few torn pages, one a plate and another plate that had been cut out, both actually affected two plates as they are mostly double sided. Covers measure about 14 3/8” x 11 1/2”. It’s impossible to describe every condition issue, it’s in real bad condition , but it contains some fascinating historical sketches that shouldn’t be lost to time. Please view all twelve photos to help judge condition.
