Description: Here is a recent estate find. This is a Rare Antique "Named" Nineteenth Century "U.S. Civil War Era" Ceremonial Fraternal IOOF Odd Fellows Sword, made by the Ames Sword Company Chicopee Mass. USA, Circa 1860. This is Very Rare as the The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is One of the Oldest and Largest Fraternal Orders in the World Today. The Blade is Etched with the Former Owner's Name "J.J. Ellis". It is also is Signed by the Maker "Ames Sword Co. Chicopee Mass". The Brass Scabbard is Original has Intricate Applied Ornate Metal Medieval Figural Designs, with Engraved IOOF Triple Link Fraternity 'Three Interlocking Oval Rings', and Ornate Bottom with Acorn Tip. The Sword measures approx. 37 1/2" long with the Scabbard. The Sword itself measures approx. 35 3/4" Long with a 28" Blade. The Sword has a Painted Ebony Wood Handle with Unique Seated Lady Liberty Lady Justice with Sword Pommel, and Ornate Victorian Cross Guard. This is in Overall Good Original Condition, with a Nice Aged Patina. The Blade is in Overall Good Original Condition, Click and Enlarge Photos for Details!
