Description: Up for sale is a fantastic book of engravings by master engraver / artist Andre Lambert (1884-1967). This is "Un Coin De Bretagne". It is number 14 of 150. Signed by Lambert. The first 30 copies, of which this is one, are printed on Japan paper. Published 1917. Lambert is a well known illustrator and engraver with numerous works in museums around the world. He is best known for his beautifully illustrated books of engravings. This book has 15 engravings and several other pages with writing and illustrations. Overall book is in nice conditions. No significant issues to the pages or engravings. Some minor dings at far edges of pages. Pages VG+ /Fine -. Binding is a green velvet like material with what appear to be some type of leafy (perhaps bamboo) design, with the title and artist pasted on front on a piece of cut leather. This looks like the binding was specifically created for this set of pages. It is period binding. Some chipping to boards particularly at edges, corners and top and bottom of binding. Leather title is chipped. Binding is probably good - / fair +. There is a signature and inscription by an unknown hand on the back of the title page. I can not figure out if this is by someone well known or not. It is in a weird place for it not to be but I can not identify the individual who wrote the inscription. See photo. A beautiful and rare piece. Please email with questions and see my store for other great items.
