Description: Doing my best to reshuffle the collection a little bit and let some pieces go. I've said it before, the best Artifacts are those with faces. Looking into the faces of Ancient Human and Animal forms is like looking directly into the past and having it look back at you. These are the most powerful pieces and these are the pieces no collection can live without. This is a Punuk Era Seal effigy with a notched loop hole for one flipper and the distinctive raised Punuk Point for the other. Its eyes still look out at you after 1500 years in the Bering Sea. Another feature unique to the Punuk Period is the three dots in the shape of a triangle on the Seal's underbelly. I've not be able to find any articles on their significance, but I seen this very specific and intentional marking on dozens of Ancient Seal Effigies. It's a beautiful piece Born in Antiquity as my favorite Ebayer likes to say. Please look at my other Alaskan Artifacts.
