Description: The item for sale is an ancient large Indus Valley Terracotta Zebu Bull Harappan Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilizationca. 2700 to 2000 BC.Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BC. A bichrome pottery sculpture representing a humped and long-horned Zebu bull, its body and horns adorned with a black on white stripe motif, (decoration now partially deteriorated on all surface areas), and possessing a dramatic hump, raised harness around the neck.The Zebu is the domesticated form of the Asian auroch that disappeared and was replaced with the Zebu during the time of the Indus Valley civilization. The humped bull was a recurring theme on the decorative and ritual arts from this civilization, most likely symbolizing leadership, strength and virility. Size: 12.5 cm long W x 9.3 cm high and 4.9 cm wide at widest point. Weighs 205 grams approximately. This is one of the better examples and displays very well so don't miss it.
