Description: This piece comes with a costum made, acrylic stand! You see here an undamaged completely double terminated but complex amethysts crystal from the Gobobosex Mountains in Namibia. Great internal color zoning, possibly fluid inclusions, bu I haven't really checked for those. The main tip is fully crystallized, but has an odd indentation in the center, which might for the casual observer look as damage but closer look reveals fully recrystallized crystal faces. Maybe at some point in ancient history, another crystal, or mineral species even, was growing against it, preventing the tip from fully forming and creating the "groove". Then the crystal healed itself while formation was still ongoing. The same happened on the bottom of the piece. Once a shard broken off from the matrix, the pocket then continued to crystallize, and a thin layer of sugary white Quartz crystals then formed on the surface, in effect healing that side into new crystallization as well. Highly unusual and pretty specimen, and a bit of a mineralogical mystery. Of course luster and color are great, as common with amethyst from this area. This crystal is 1 5/8 oz in weight, or 45 grams. The size is 3 inch x 1 inch x 0.7 inch. with stand, the whole weighs 85 grams. Please be advised, I ship with Ground Advantage.
