AMERICAN VIOLINIST MAXIMILIAN PILZER (1890-1958) CDR

Description: MAXIMILIAN PILZER (NEW YORK, USA, FEBRUARY 26, 1890 – NEW YORK, USA, MAY, 1958) He was born into a family of Jewish immigrants from Austria-Hungary. He studied with Henry Schradieck. In 1900 he entered the Stern Conservatory in Berlin, where he studied with Josef Joachim and Gustave Hollaender. In 1903 he played several solo concerts in Berlin and Dresden. In 1904, for 6 months, he performed in London with the orchestra of the Queens Hall (Queen’s Hall Orchestra). In 1905 he returned to the United States and toured the eastern states. In the 1908-1909 season he was the concertmaster of the New York Russian Symphony Orchestra (Russian Symphony Orchestra of New York), and in the 1915-1917 seasons he was the concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. From 1920 he worked as a conductor in various New York theater groups. Since 1940 – freelancer.
