Offered is a vintage American Hone knife / straight razor honing stone as pictured. This is a rare and ORIGINAL stone made at the old Frictionite works located in Olean, NY. (Company was sold and production was moved to Iowa in the mid 1900's) This dual surface (fine and extra fine finish) stone measures about 4-3/8" x 2" x 1/2" and is incise marked "AM. HONE CO. OLEAN, N.Y.". Found with the full size stone, the included smaller stone measures about 1-7/8" long x 1/2" wide x 1/4" thick; don't know if it is a slurry stone or an actual small sharpening stone. Condition: The provided photographs clearly show the actual item offered and are intended to show general condition, including any issues - Both sides are as smooth as the proverbial baby's backside, but typical of most early Frictionite stones some surface crazing is apparent on the lighter colored side (both sides of the hone have been lightly cleaned), and of course, it could benefit from a proper cleaning and light lapping (Priced accordingly).
