Description: This is a great Antique American Art Pottery Tile from the American Encaustic Tile Company which produced tiles from 1880 thru 1935 and upon closing re-opened as Shawnee Pottery in 1937. This one has great graphics from the 1887 Baby's Own Aesop Book and artist / illustrator Walter Crane and is entitled FORTUNE AND THE BOY. It measures approx 6" x 6" and it is clean and in good pre-owned condition with one tiny and shallow smooth chip on backside edge and another tiny pitting mark from factory - both EXTREMELY MINOR but noted for accuracy - no chips or damage on face of tile - great graphics - referred to as a transferware or decal tile.
