Marselis vase designed by Danish designer Nils Thorsson in the 1960s for Aluminia (in 1969, this company name took on the Royal Copenhagen name, which Aluminia had owned and operated since 1882.) The vase has a chocolate brown glaze over a repeating pattern of squares within squares. Each of the squares shows up nicely since the impressed design means that the glaze is a bit thicker over the squares. The underside, which has a clear glaze, has a black ink stamp with the Aluminia mark; the word MARSELIS; Nils Thorsson's cipher; and the shape number 2631. At its widest point, this 8 in.-tall vase is approximately 5 in. across and the diameter of its opening is about 1 1/8 in, Condition is excellent. The underside of the vase has only a clear glaze and there is a small amount of irregular crazing visible. Near the base of the vase are a couple of manufacturing-related tiny glaze skips, which we have photographed. All other elements of the vase are very good. We wrap our items with great care.
