Something of a Bible for the Counterculture, with its primary purpose as a literary publication, it also gave focus to the arts. The sexier and more counter to culture, the better. It faced and gave voice to many of the taboos around sex, sexuality, expression in various forms, and pushing the boundaries of what was socially acceptable. Founded by the publisher of Grove Press, this magazine debuted and provided early opportunity to such Beat poets and writers such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Charles Bukowski, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Albert Camus, LeRoi Jones, William S. Burroughs, Samuel Beckett, Pablo Neruda, Jean Genet, Valdimir Nabokov, Susan Sontag, Norman Mailer and many others. It included cartoons and illustrations, photographs, articles, interviews and even a recurring erotic comic titled The Adventures of Phoebe Zeit-Geist. Originally, publication halted in 1973 with issue 96, although it was revamped a couple of times, and even now is currently available as an on-line subscription. I will happily answer any further questions. Making offers: I certainly can appreciate wanting a better deal, and I've made offers myself on my own purchases. To be up front, if and when you make an offer, I will automatically reject crazy low "give it away" offers. Best not to waste our time. With a more reasonable offer, I will review current pricing for other comparable items out there and either accept, counter or decline submitted offer. If in that review, I find my pricing is already LOW and outdated, I may then increase the price to bring more in line with other offerings. I spend a lot of time sourcing the best offerings, preparing the listings with images and clear descriptions, and price fairly in MOST cases. I remain grateful to all who consider my offerings, and I look forward to serving your needs respectfully and with success.
