Late 16th century edition of Dante's "Divine Comedy" bound in double-ruled vellum with hand-painted spine titling. All edges gilt with gauffered fore edge. 32mo, 627+(13) pages. This edition is illustrated with 3 full-page woodcuts, depicting Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise + an additional woodcut portrait of Dante. Bookplate from Henrietta Tracy de Selding, wife of the former Bishop of Newark. Cracking along edges of vellum, most notable along front cover fore edge and at head of spine. Binding, however, holding quite firm with no loose pages noted. Title page is worn, with some small loss and tear but no text loss. Textblock toned but not foxed. Good condition and rare.
