Alcott: Little Women and Little Men. The volumes are all published by Roberts Brothers, the original publisher of the novels, at approximately the same time in the same very attractive binding that Roberts used for a brief period starting in 1871. This was the binding that replaced the 1st printing binding of these volumes and was also used by Roberts for the first printings of Alcott's Eight Cousins, Rose In Bloom, Under the Lilacs, and Jack and Jill. LITTLE WOMEN. Originally issued in two volumes that comprise the whole of the work. Here Part First is absent, Part Second in 1880. [First edition, first printings were 1868 (Part First) and 1869 (Part Second).] [BAL 158, 159]. In cloth with gilt lettering and design stamped to spine. Flower-print endpapers. Part Second in green cloth. Minor rubbing to extremities, rubbing to corners, minor pulling wear to spine tips. Gilt to spine very bright. Slight slant, as is common. Gift inscription to blank flyleaf. No loose pages or sprung signatures. Text block generally clean, with occasional minor sign of use. LITTLE MEN.
