There is a blindstamp near the lower right-hand corner but it doesn’t really show up in the scan; it’s just visible in a raking light and very clearly visible from the back of the print. Leopoldo Alinari founded the studio in 1852. He was joined in the business two years later by his brothers Giuseppe and Romualdo. The brothers quickly achieved recognition for the quality of their work and by 1860 they included members of the royal family among their clients. Today, it is the oldest foundation in the world still active in the field of photography and the studio’s archives contain some five and a half million images. Condition: the print presents some faint discolouration near its upper edge, where there is also a small amount of handling wear; it is otherwise in fine condition, with very good tonal range.
