Description: An original early 19th Century Pastel Country Cottage Landscape by well listed artist Albert Francis Gatthaar (American, 1879-1950) This fine painting is signed "Glatthaar" in the lower left hand corner. This wonderful pastel is framed under glass in the original curved Victorian Mahogany Frame. The outside frame dimensions are 28.5" by 10.5". Both the painting and original frame are in very good well cared for condition. There are no chips to the frame and I only noticed one very slight smudge in the painting at the end of the signature. Glatthaar was a midwestern pastel artist whose works usually possess a very distinctive style and often have bright colors and wonderful use of light. he specialized in landscape scenes, but a variety of winter and seascapes are also documented.
