These figures are used in Ceremonial Dance Supplicating the Departed Individual to look Kindly upon the Living Tribe Members. It was probably thrown to the ground or kicked over breaking it and releasing any evil or ill-intentioned spirits therein. This accounts for the Crack across the Face (see Pictures).
