Description: Africa Wood War Club Kingdom of Kongo (Angola) 23 inches circa 1500-1600This was acquired by me while in Angola during a cease-fire in their civil war in 1992. It was from a village outside Luanda. It looks to have been used over the centuries but is in exceptionally good condition. To remove cultural items from Angola at that time I had to go to a government office and pay a tax and they issued me an export tag, they advised that the club was from 1500-1600. The tag was attached with a mucilage type of glue, but over the decades it dried up and came loose. The export tag is included with this club along with a conversion from Portuguese to English as shown. A copy of information from Wikipedia about Kingdom of Kongo, as shown, will be included. This is quite heavy for being made of wood. It evidently was a type of burl in the wood to form the bulb at the end, as the club is of a single piece of wood. It is about 22-23 inches long. A piece of copper wire has been added at some time as a means to hang it up. It is one of very few known and of excellent condition. This will be well packed and shipped Priority Mail with Insurance and Signature Requirement to make sure it arrives Fast and Safe to you. We have been selling since 1987 and past customers include the Australian National Museum in Sydney, Australia. We have been on ebay since 1999. Please look at the pictures as this is the actual item that you will receive. This is from a group of artifacts that were purchased form 1969 through 1995 and packed and stored. Some items are quite rare and as old as 1,000 BC. More boxes will be unpacked and more artifacts will become available. Watch for my other listings on ebay. Thank you.
