Description: For sale is a rare vintage A.F. Meisselbach Model 260 Featherlight Fly Reel. Nickel-plated bronze frame. Marked "Featherlight No 260 - PAT. JAN. 14, '96 " DEC. 27, '04." There is no "Meisselbach" marking on the reel frame: as I understand from sources quoting author Phil White's Meisselbach Collector's Guide, this indicates pre-1906 reel manufacture. Based on that information and the 1904 patent inscription, this reel can be dated 1904-05. The reel shows nickel finish wear, but is in overall very presentable condition. The two-position, click-drag pawl and removable spring system still functions effectively. The assembled reel measures approximately 2-5/16" diameter, 1-1/8" width. The reel weighs approximately 3 oz. All reel parts are present and uncorroded. The reel appears to be in very good mechanical condition. See high-resolution photos, all of which show the actual reel for sale. Also shown is model 260 descriptive information from the A.F. Meisselbach & Bro. 1914 catalogue. A highly collectible piece of fly fishing history that I believe you could still still fish with.
