ADOLFO Vintage Two-Piece Ivory Silk Skirt and Bouse with Black Lace Top SZ 8-10

Description: This colorful silk and lace two-piece dress from Adolfo is a departure from the 1980s knit suits and dresses for which he is most well-known today. The shining star of the ensemble is the whimsical silk jacquard fabric juxtaposed with a black guipure lace bodice. The blouse has two parts: a sleeveless and strapless piece in the ivory silk fabric that is loosely attached to the black lace bodice with sleeves. This pairing closes with a zipper and self-covered buttons in back. The dirndl style skirt is lined with very stiff interfacing that gives it a great deal of body. It has a side zipper, hidden on seam pockets, and a sash attached to the waistband in back. Because we had to clip several inches out of the waist so the skirt would fit our mannequin, it will appear somewhat fuller on a size 8 wearer. The union label in the blouse was used from 1974-1995, and frankly, one could place this ensemble anywhere on that timeline up until Adolfo retired in 1993. There is no size label in either piece, but based on the waist measurement of the skirt, our sizing tables indicate it is closest to a modern size 8. The top would also fit a size 10. The skirt's waist could easily be let out, and if a splice in the waistband were required, the sash would cover it up (or some of the sash material could be used to create the splice). Please refer to the measurements to determine actual sizes and compare with similar garments that fit you.*TOP MEASUREMENTS - Underarm chest measurement is 36-38" (There's elastic at the back that gives the fits a little variability.) - Waist is 36" - Length is 25" down center back. SKIRT MEASUREMENTS - Waist is 29" - Hips are free. - Length is 28.5" including waistband and lace. CONDITION Excellent condition with no apparent flaws. I was convinced that this dress had never been worn, but after very close scrutiny, I believe it might have been worn briefly, but it still looks and feels like brand new. Please do not rely only on the size label or estimated size to determine fit.
