As a young doctor he took part in the March Revolution. His speech about freedom of the press in the courtyard of the Lower Austrian Landhaus in Vienna's Herrengasse on January 13th. March is considered to be the beginning of the Vienna March Revolution in 1848. He ultimately represented the Vienna district of Matzleinsdorf in the constituent Reichstag. He played a prominent role in this assembly and in its constitutional committee and in the drafting of the draft constitution of 25.
