Description: The vintage signature autograph of Rear Admiral George G. Burkley (1902-1991) signed on a 3.5 X 6.25 card decorated with a 5c American Flag / US Capital postage stamp. Burkley was the United States Navy physician who served three US Presidents. Burkley was promoted to become Physician to President Kennedy in July 1963 and was present in the motorcade when President John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963. After the assassination Burkley accompanied Kennedy’s body back to Washington and was instrumental in choosing Bethesda Naval Hospital as the site to perform Kennedy’s autopsy. Burkley was appointed the personal physician to Lyndon B. Johnson after he became President as well. Very good condition.
