Abbott Costello Sydney Greenstreet Bing Benchley Autographed Page Pilot WWII '44

Description: Here is an extremely rare very early vintage original large 4 7/8" by 7 7/8" page autographed during WWII by comedy team Bud Abbott and Lou Costello and actors Sydney Greenstreet and Charles Coburn on the front and Bing Crosby and Robert Benchley (who died the following year) on the back, all signed in 1944, in an Australian RAAF pilot's diary. With great provenance. Last image is part of the diary where he writes about meeting Abbott and Costello, Sydney Greenstreet, and Bing Crosby at NBC (diary not included in purchase). Abbott and Costello were an American comedy duo composed of comedians Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, whose work in radio, film, and television made them the most popular comedy team of the 1940s and 1950s, and the highest-paid entertainers in the world during the Second World War. Their patter routine "Who's on First?" is considered one of the greatest comedy routines of all time. Sydney Hughes Greenstreet (December 27, 1879 – January 18, 1954)[1] was a British-American actor. While he did not begin his career in films until the age of 61, he had a run of significant motion pictures in a Hollywood career lasting through the 1940s. He is best remembered for his Warner Bros. films with Humphrey Bogart and Peter Lorre, including The Maltese Falcon (1941), Casablanca (1942), and Passage to Marseille (1944). He portrayed Nero Wolfe on radio during 1950 and 1951. He became a United States citizen in 1925. Robert Charles Benchley (1889 – 1945) was an American humorist best known for his work as a newspaper columnist and film actor. From his beginnings at The Harvard Lampoon while attending Harvard University, through his many years writing essays and articles for Vanity Fair and The New Yorker and his acclaimed short films, Benchley's style of humor brought him respect and success during his life, from his peers at the Algonquin Round Table in New York City to contemporaries in the burgeoning film industry. Benchley is best remembered for his contributions to The New Yorker, where his essays, whether topical or absurdist, influenced many modern humorists. He also made a name for himself in Hollywood, when his short film How to Sleep was a popular success and won Best Short Subject at the 1935 Academy Awards. He also made many memorable appearances acting in films such as Alfred Hitchcock's Foreign Correspondent (1940) and Nice Girl? (1941). Also, Benchley appeared as himself in Walt Disney's behind the scenes film, The Reluctant Dragon (1941). His legacy includes written work and numerous short film appearances. Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby Jr. (1903 – 1977) was an American singer and actor. The first multimedia star, he was one of the most popular and influential musical artists of the 20th century worldwide. He was a leader in record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses from 1926 to 1977. He made over 70 feature films and recorded more than 1,600 songs. Charles Douville Coburn (1877 – 1961) was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award three times – in The Devil and Miss Jones (1941), The More the Merrier (1943), and The Green Years (1946) – winning for his performance in The More the Merrier. Very rare Abbott and Costello autographs from their prime, extremely rare Sydney Greenstreet autograph and exceptionally rare Robert Benchley autograph. Will ship worldwide.
