Description: Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series 49001Supermarine Spitfire Mk II Diecast ModelRAF No.74 Sqn, Adolf "Sailor" Malan, RAF Hornchurch, England, Battle of Britain, July 10th 1940Limited Edition 1800 Pieces Worldwide1:72 Scale This formerly displayed model is in great shape, while the box is in good shape (see photos). PLEASE READ - all photos shown are the ACTUAL MODEL THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE (these are not stock photos or pirated from another eBay listing!). While some of the models are new (never removed from the box) most of the models that I am selling have been displayed in a relatively dust-free cabinet and all are completely intact (no missing parts) - that is, most of them ARE IN NEAR NEW SHAPE. ALL HAVE BOXES (in most cases they are in good to great shape - if not, it will be noted). I have included numerous photos showing the models from various angles, along with the boxes. I tend to take the photos so they area a bit over-exposed because I believe that increased exposure better accentuates the detail (and any potential flaws). If there are issues with any of the models, this information will be included in this description. A final word - I have been collecting diecast models for many years, always with the goal of displaying them in their full glory. Unfortunately, due to a Parkinson’s diagnosis, I am now forced to sell my collections. If you are looking for a model that you want to keep in the box and put it in the closet to sell as new later, and want the internal packaging to be exactly as it was sent out by the manufacturer, these may not be the models for you. This is especially true for the Dragon Models, which tend to have more fiddly bits that are more challenging to return to pre-opening (new) placement. That said, the Corgi airplanes are much easier to put back in their clam shell enclosures, so in many cases you would not know if they were new or not.The only thing that may be different with a Corgi that has been displayed, is the small plastic bag that contains the small bits (e.g., landing gears, landing gear covers, drop tanks, etc.) attached to the model may be in the same bag that has been sealed at one end with a piece of tape or may have been replaced by a minute zip-lock bag to keep all the "fiddly bits" together. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me! Thank you and happy collecting! MAKE SURE YOU CHECK OUT THE OTHER DIECAST AIRPLANE MODELS I HAVE FOR SALE! Supermarine Spitfire Mk II On the morning of July 10th 1940, a convoy codenamed "Bread" was detected by a reconnaissance Dornier Do17P of 4(F)121 when rounding the North Foreland in Kent. Six Spitfires of No.74 Sqn (Hornchurch) intercepted but were outnumbered by more than 20 Bf 109s of I/JG 51. Despite this, they forced the Dornier to crash land, while only taking damage to two of the Spitfires. K9953/ZP-A was flown by Flight Lt. Adolf "Sailor" Malan of the No.74 Sqn during this action. It went to No.7 OTU after the Battle of Britain before being passed to No.57 OTU where it was wrecked in a collision in 1943.
