Description: A "Used" Lynx "Claw" Metal & Wood "Get Out of Jail" Hybrid Fairway Club! I think that Stan Thompson was the first clubmaker to offer a Get Out of Jail fairway club called the "Ginty!" It had a laminated Maple head with a Red Plastic insert and a VEE shaped Metal Sole Plate! After it became very popular, a lot of Clubmakers started offiering one, and Lynx made one called the "Claw." It had the best of both wood and metal. The sole and club face is metal, and the metal also came up the rear of the club head to have a "Tail Weight,": and the middle part of the club head was laminated maple. Most all of the "Get Out of Jail" clubs had the loft of a 7 Wood, and this one appears to have that angle on the club face. This clubs leading edge of the sole plate, and face has a few dings, which is understandable since Golf Rules don't allow a player to dig around in the grass, fluff, pine straw, dirt, sand and whatever before he swings the club. If you have hit the ball into a "Jail" situation, you don't have any idea whats below the surface! This club has seen a lot of the worst parts of a golf course. If you look at the 2nd Picture( of the sole plate), you'll see a black dot in the middle of the sole plate. That is an Allen Head set screw which is removeable so you can add or remove the powdered tungsten, which was used to vary the club's Swing Weight. And if I remember correctly the difference between D2 and D3 was the weight of a single Dollar Bill. The "Regular" Flex shaft says it is made by Lynx Precision Golf Equipment in Paramount, CA. But most all club makers were using True Temper shafts even if they were not identified. The grip is made by Golf Pride and has Lynx's name on it. It is medium brown and gold and is reminiscent of the "Grip Rite Swing Rite" grips that were prevalent in the era that this club was made.
