Despite the date of 1953 on the copyright page, Dodd, Mead didn’t publish this book until 1954. It was published in the UK in 1953 by Collins. This is a first edition and is NOT the common book club edition. The book itself is in good condition for its age. Wear, bumping amd rubbing to board edges, board tips, and spine tips. Wear/scratches near front lower gutter through green exposing cardboard. Free endpapers have yellowing near gutter where dust jacket contact ended. Otherwise, interior appears to be quite clean. The dust jacket, which has the price $2.75 on the front flap, is in fair only condition for its age, with large chips missing, tears, wear, rubbing, chipping, soiling, staining, letters on spine faded, etc. Please see pictures to judge condition for yourself.
