She has a Masters Degree from Stanford University School of Medicine, worked to legalize acupuncture in the state of California, received one of the first licenses granted in California, and founded one of the first oriental medical colleges, the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in San Francisco, and was one of its first teachers. Martha taught the first classes in alternative medicine in the United States at Antioch College West, lectured on acupuncture at Christos School of Natural Healing in Taos, New Mexico; at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine; and for Chinese medical and herbal professional groups throughout the United States. She has studied in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Peoples Republic of China, Bali, Europe, and the United States, as well as studied with American Indian medicine men, homeopaths, naturopaths, and psychic-spiritual practitioners. Since 1987, Martha has formulated herbs and taught classes for medical practitioners for the neutraceutical company, Metagenics. She has authored numerous herbal workbooks, teaching tapes, magazine articles, and was a radio host showcasing herbs and alternative medicine.
