T. E. R. Phillips & Dr. W. H. Steavenson, 1931 editions, considered to be one of the best early 1900's text on astronomy. I have been able to save some of the pages and illustrations. Where else would you ever see a picture of an "authentic" piece of the apple tree that put Isaac Newton on his path to developing his Law of Universal Gravitation? Great 1930s astronomical history. Sound, but definitely showing its age; some slight moisture-caused ruffling of pages (mostly edges), margin foxing, an occasional bent page tip. (Reverse has related/unrelated text and/or additional graphic...not shown) A fascinating look at astronomy from the viewpoint of almost a century ago. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
