Description: German Empire, WW1, Original 1915 Commemorative Medal of the Royal Bavarian Life Regiment for the Defence of Tyrol, (Erinnerungsmedaille des Königlich Bayerischen Infanterie Leib-Regiments für die Verteidigung Tirols). The Bavarian Infantry Life Regiment (Königlich Bayerische Infanterie Leib-Regiment) was a Life Guard unit for Bavarian kings. It started the First World War in 1914 as a part of the 1st Bavarian Division, crossing the French frontier on August 12, 1914. At the end of May 1915 it was sent to Italian front in the vicinity of Campitello and took part in several smaller actions that helped to stabilize the Austrian front. In honor of their actions, the Leib Regiment was presented with the Edelweiss cap badge by the Austrian Kaiserschützen. Material: silvered brass. Dimensions 34 x 44 mm.
