Description: A scarce set of eight (8) vintage copper dinner-sized plates with silver appliques, in an Aztec or Pre-Columbian pattern. Made by Victoria Taxco, ca. 1950's or '60's, these bear the Victoria Taxco mark on the bottom, and the pattern # 482. Despite having collected a great deal of Victoria Taxco copperware over several years, I have run across only a couple of others of these plates over the years; and always as singles. To find this many together and in this condition strikes me as being quite unusual. I bought them years ago for my own Victoria Taxco collection, but I've never used them.Plates are just a skosh over 11.5" in diameter. Each plate weighs about 1.25 pounds (20 ounces). Ideal size for dinner plates; though you might want to consider reserving them for food which doesn't involve knives, which might cause scratches on the shiny copper. Plates are in generally very good condition. Please examine all photos. There's some tarnishing, and a bit of oxidation here and there. (After all... They're 60-70 years old!) They all need a good polishing, as you can see in the photos. Please examine all photos. I've photographed the tops of all 8 together, the backs of all 8 together, and the tops of all 8, individually.(I've included a 12-ounce can of Gosling's Ginger Beer (not included) in some of the photos, for scale. In case you haven't had the pleasure of trying it, Gosling's Ginger Beer is the absolute cat's meow. It's terrific with dark rum, too !!!)Victoria was a shop started in 1940 by a noted Mexican artisan/artist named Ana Maria Nunez Brilanti – one of the original Taxco silver designers of the 1930’s. Respected for her originality and design clarity – as well as for the high quality of her work. The Victoria shop closed in 1975.Thanks for your interest._________________________________________________________________________________________ Please view all pictures carefully in order to judge condition for yourself. Shipping available to United States only. No international shipments. I will ship by the method cited in the eBay listing, and shipping charges stated in the listing reflect shipping only by that method. If you anticipate wanting something shipped to an address or person other than you, please e-mail me before purchasing from me so that we may investigate options. Why am I doing this? Thieves have been committing a lot of fraud by hacking into people’s EBay and/or PayPal accounts, buying things, and then having the items shipped to different people and addresses. This hurts everybody. This happened to me quite recently. If you've completed less than 5 eBay transactions, please contact me before bidding. Please be certain that you agree with these terms before bidding. Thank you for your understanding, and for your business.
