It's a cross between the tropical Big Momma cultivar and the native drummondii variety. Characteristics of the pink Turk's cap:Growth: A perennial shrub that can grow to be 4–6 ft tall and wide. Flowers: Pink, turban-like flowers that bloom from May to October. Sun: Prefers part shade but can tolerate full sun if soil is kept moisten at all times.Water: Drought-tough once established, but may need more water in full sun. Soil: Adaptable to clay and dry soil. Wildlife: Attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and other pollinators. Fruit: Edible and tastes like an apple. The Turk's cap gets its name from its flowers, which resemble a Turkish turban. It's native to the southeastern United States, from Texas to North Carolina and south to the Florida Keys. Use Ornamental: Turk's Cap is a good ornamental for shady sites. Cultivars have been selected for white blooms and variegated foliage.
