" Sent to dressing room. Tear at top center as shown. Cool telegram for Steinbeck adapted flop musical Ken Kercheval played Cliff Barnes thru out Dallas years But this play at Billy Rose was remarkable in the worst ways. Mitch Miller put up tons of money into the musical staging of STEINBECK'S East of EDEN, and fired the cast the day after an horrendous opening night. Further, before the stage bows, Kercheval, so despondent with the poor performance, WALKED OFF stage and walked right by his family to NOT RETURN to either his young nuclear family or to his cast family. He would begin a new love story with a stage dancer, who I believe became his next wife. Condition as shown from "carolyn and quentin" Amazing piece of Steinbeck/Broadway/DALLAS / KERCHEVAL/ MITCH MILLER etc etc.. Cross-collectible to be sure!
