The taper allows the fastener to expand evenly along the inside wall of the hole for a much more secure anchor point This new tie down is ribbed and longer so it will reach further inside the Lock and Ride system. We use a retainer that is unique to Boonie Powersports Ranger and General accessories. Our retainer matches the size of the anchor and insures the fastener achieves even pressure and maximum expansion inside the hole. This maximum expansion improves stability and provides unmatched holding power. The dual nylon topside washers are key to the ease of installation and removal. Nylon is naturally "slippery" and by using two of these washers adjacent to each other, we can reduce the friction and amount of effort it takes to tighten and loosen our fasteners.
