WHAT IT FEELS LIKE: The 48 lb. weight is more substantial than the lighter weight vellum. it feels like a lightweight card stock. It is moderately heavy, rigid, and should be scored before folding to avoid cracking along the fold. It is thick enough to be used as a lightweight, stand-alone invitation card, or it also works well as a sturdy backer, wrap, top layer, etc. SOME POPULAR USES:Though 48 lb vellum is not a completely sheer overlay, heavyweight 48lb vellum has a lot of other great uses! - Program cover- Printed invitation top layer- Heavyweight vellum gate fold/wrap- Printed invitation inserts/supplements (think little direction cards, registry cards, additional info, etc.) The second picture is an example of a project where the vellum was printed and used as a centerpiece with a candle lighting the printed vellum image.
