Description: There is something nice and special about the people who love plants .*.*. Welcome to my Beautiful World of Gardening! .*.*. You will receive: 9-20" tall, including roots, tree of Viburnum opulus Chervona Kalyna flowering plant, known also as Snowball with good roots, wrapped in a moist media and ready for planting. I am in Virginia and I plant these and other seedlings in the garden soil between March and December. Fall and spring are the best time for this. If you live in a colder climate zone, you can plant it in a pot and keep slightly watered in the unheated garage. Then, in spring, move it to the garden. If you in a warmer zone, with no real frost - you can plant it in the garden soil any time. Other common names include water elder, cramp bark, snowball tree and European cranberrybush, though this plant is not closely related to the cranberry. Viburnum opulus is a deciduous shrub growing to 4–5 m (13–16 ft) tall. The leaves are opposite, three-lobed, 5–10 cm (2–4 in) long and broad, with a rounded base and coarsely serrated margins; they are superficially similar to the leaves of some maples, most easily distinguished by their somewhat wrinkled surface with impressed leaf venation. The leaf buds are green, with valvate bud scales. The flowers are white, produced in corymbs 4–11 cm (2–4 in) in diameter at the top of the stems; each corymb comprises a ring of outer sterile flowers 1.5–2 cm in diameter with conspicuous petals, surrounding a center of small (5 mm), fertile flowers; the flowers are produced in early summer, and pollinated by insects. The fruit is a globose bright red drupe 7–10 mm diameter, containing a single seed. The seeds are dispersed by birds. The fruit is edible in small quantities, with a very acidic taste; it can be used to make jelly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When Kalyna Chervova matures, it produces typical straight thick shoots, just like those shown on the photo of my listing. Also, as a typical shrub/bush, it produces side shoots - they look like vines in the lower portion of the bush. Those flexible and curved low branches contact the ground and produce rather specific-looking strong and straight partly exposed roots (see photo 5). Therefore, Kalyna Chervova is a combination of mature thick vertical shoots and thin curved mostly horizontal vine-like lower branches. This ad shows pictures of the parent plants with thick vertical shoots (red berries included). They also show thin lower branches - those are on the last photos.During spring time, the plant produces bright green leaves. During summer, leaves have bug bites and holes (all bugs are created equal; therefore, they have the right to eat).September-November is the time when leaves turn yellow and fall on the ground. The plant goes dormant for the winter. Will be delivered from a clean, no-smoke home in Virginia After You Received Your PlantPlease note that the plants are traveling to your address in boxes. This means that they are in the dark for days – not exactly a normal condition for the plants. If you take a stressed plant from the box and put it under direct sunlight – most likely the sunlight will burn its leaves. If you spray/mist the leaves under direct sunlight – water droplets will act like optical lenses, focusing sunlight and burning the leaves. If you quickly expose the plant to the outdoor heat – it will damage the plant. Basically, these are the easy ways to kill the poor plant after it was tortured by the mail carrier. If you want the plant to stay alive, please (1) give it a lot of water and (2) keep it in the shade for 7-10 days. Typically, when I receive a new plant, I put the roots in a jar with water for 24-48 hours. Then I move it to a pot with good potting soil. I keep the soil soggy for 1 week. Sometimes I trim off the lower leaves – too many older leaves put too much stress on the roots. I use a water bottle to spray the remaining leaves. After that I start exposing the plant to periods of direct sunlight outdoors, and only after that I would put the plant in the garden soil. I would water it every day for the next 7 days. After that the plant is ready to adjust on its own. These are not “the instructions to follow” … this is common knowledge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~When you buy my plants, you agree with the following terms and conditions.Within 24 hours from the time this perishable material was delivered to you: you have the choice to send me an email with photographs describing the plant condition and your concerns.
