Background The Xpan, the dream of many photographers, the unobtainable holy grail of rangefinder cameras, its 50mm panoramic shots are simply awesome.However, not everyone can afford or even find an Xpan.Here's how this jig comes into play.It was my goal to achieve the XPan look, without having an Xpan.A 6x7 frame is twice the width of a 35mm frame, which is exactly what the Xpan sees.If I can perfectly load a 35mm film in a 6x7 camera, I can achieve the Xpan look.There are adapters that allows one to load a 35mm canister into a 120 camera.However, there are drawbacks: The film is not flat for the lack of backing paper; they are also at the wrong focal distance.The finished roll is not covered; you need a darkroom to unload your film.How can I improve? Why not reuse a 120 roll?I designed this jig to reload a finished 120 film roll.The backing paper reels in a fresh roll of 35mm film, perfectly in the center.The film is at the designed focal distance.The finished portion securely wrapped in paper, safe to unload in daylight.Your shooting experience is unchanged.Just shoot it like any other 120 film.
