Connecting shafts are easily cut to length for custom applications, and are ideal in applications where welding would damage the heat sensitive needle roller bearing seals of higher quality U-joints. In order to secure your U-joints the best, drill a small dimple in each end of the shaft once you have your length, at approx 9/16th inch (0.55 in) from the end, to give your set screws something to bite into. Also, a threadlock compound is ideal once you are done dry-fitting, and ready for your permanent install. Please ensure the shaft sits squarely inside of the u-joint, to the end of the yoke, but no further. Too deep will prevent the U-joint from turning as effectively as it is designed to, whereas not far enough in could cause it to detach, or weaken the connection.
