Description: TEXAS NOPALES OPUNTIA PADS Edible Pads & Red to Purple Fruit Central Texas Ranch, Organically grown FRUIT BEARING PRICKLY PEAR CACTUS 3 LARGE pads for the price of 1 with Same-Day FREE SHIPPING! This order is for 2 healthy, organically grown pads (cuttings). This versatile cactus is hardy, and recommended for zone 5 and higher (will survive in -10 to -20 temperatures.) This type of cactus is also known as Opuntia Cacanapa Elisiana. The Nopales Opuntia are a low maintenance, very prolific species of cactus that anyone can grow. These pads will produce beautiful flowers in the spring, and then in late fall or early winter, the plump edible pears will mature and ripen. One pad cutting will propagate many additional pads. One pad can produce a full cactus plant that can grow as high as 6 to 8 feet. Nopales Opuntia are a wonderful addition to any landscape design. Great for rock gardens or even planted in large containers. Both the fruit and the pads are edible and are a great source for emergency survival food. Additionally, the pears are an excellent source of antioxidants and contain healing properties, too. Their life-saving attributes have been well documented, used by Native Americans, Frontiersmen, Cowboys, and Ranchers throughout history for human and livestock consumption. The pads are also an excellent choice for reptile food. Your tortoise, bearded dragon, or iguana will love them. Prickly pear cacti (Optunia) are easily identified by their upside-down pear-shaped pads or segments. Their gray-green fleshy pads produce large showy flowers in the spring that turn into red, spiny fruits later in the season. There are more than 150 varieties of prickly pear cacti, all of which are hardy in USDA Climate Zones 5 through 24. These drought-tolerant plants make very low-maintenance houseplants that add a bit of Southwestern flair to a room's decor. Prickly pear cacti are easily propagated through cuttings (pads). This order includes 3 LARGE healthy, hardy, easy to grow, medium-size, unrooted pads. These pads are from our own ranch. FREE Same-day Shipping & Handling
