Description: Mexican Pesos 100 Centavos = 1 Peso Circulated - Ungraded Coins were minted in Mexico City. The coins are composed of 75% copper & 25% nickel. 1980 circulating commemorative 5 (Cinco) pesos (5 MXP) coin, KM# 485. This is from the Mesoamerican cultures series. This was the first year of mint for this coin. They were made 1980 - 1985. This coin was demonetized 11-15-1995. The reverse features an Aztec sculpture of the feathered god Quetzalcoatl to lower right of value and peso sign, date below. The obverse has the national arms of Mexico with an eagle facing left. Inverted and normal edge legend varieties exist for the 1980 & 1981 dates. 1978 standard circulation 10 (Diez) pesos (10 MXP) coin, KM# 477. This coin's shape is an equilateral curve heptagon (7-sided) with a smooth edge. This coin was demonetized 11-15-1995. The reverse features a portrait of Miguel Hidalgo Costilla facing to the left, upper has monetary value, date below portrait. The obverse has the National Arms (eagle on cactus facing left with snake in beak above wreath), with the inscription Estatos Unifos Mexicanos forming a semicircle above it. 1982 circulating commemorative 20 (Veinte) pesos (20 MXP) coin, KM# 486. This is from the Mesoamerican cultures series. This coin was demonetized 11-15-1995. The reverse features Jugador de pelota (a Maya ball player inside a circle), the monetary value, and date printed below left. The obverse features the script "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" in a semicircle over the Mexican coat of arms (a Mexican golden eagle standing on a prickly pear cactus devouring a rattlesnake and a holm oak (Encino) branch on one side and a laurel branch at the base of the cactus).
