Description: Lot of 22 Mme. (lexander M.A.) dolls, most from Storyland Series, w/tags, original boxes, EVC. Pricing and production year research is taken from “The Madame Alexander 2010 Collector’s Dolls Price Guide #35” among other websites. The prices provided are just guidelines and are based upon a doll being in pristine or mint condition. Overall, this is a beautiful collection of vintage M.A. dolls. They are from an estate in Ednyville, NC (near Asheville) and have been properly stored for many years. However, regardless of how well they were stored, certain things can happen during storage; deterioration, smells, materials fading...within this collection, the most common issue is that of the deterioration of the rubber bands that hold the dolls together. Many of these dolls are near 30 years old, and rubber bands are not meant to last that long. The pictures of the boxes are so you can see what I think is an excellent box (left) vs a not-so-great box. They both work as intended but one looks much better than the other. I would say there are one or two that I feel are in mint condition, and maybe a handful or two of them being a bit battered but still very usable. The rest, the bulk of the collection’s boxes, are in very nice condition. · #420, 8” BETTY BLUE, from Miniature Showcase, Storyland Series. Made between 1987-1988. Doll has both wrist and outer clothing tags. Doll has golden blonde hair, dark sleepy eyes (that work) and is dressed in a full-length blue cotton high-waisted dress w/puffy sleeves and trimmed out with white lace. She wears a bonnet with floral accents on the top. She has a full white cotton/net crinoline, pantaloons, and stockings and black slip-on shoes. Doll:can see some of the glue they use on the hair, just above the loop curl. Box:, can see some storage wear on edges and corners, everything else looks good. Price guide: $55.· #435, 8” BRIDE, from Miniature Showcase, Storyland Series. Made between 1976 and 1994. Has both wrist and outer clothing tags. The doll has dark brown hair, dark eyes is wearing a bridal gown made of layers of tafetta, lace, and netting with white lace undies, no socks, white satin slip-on shoes, has a bouquet & veil. Doll: taffeta underskirt has yellowed a bit, she doesn’t have any stockings or socks but that could be because there is a little garter instead, one of the jewels on her shoes is gone, elasticity to veil is gone. Box: does show some storage wear, top looks worse than bottom piece, shows taped area where box had been ripped…Price guide: $70· #438, 8” BO PEEP, Storyland Dolls Series. Made between 1976-1986. Doll has both wrist and outer clothing tags. She has blonde hair mostly covered by a pink taffeta bonnet w/yellow tie. Her eyes are blue. She is dressed as a shepherdess in a full-length outfit w/pink skirt, black vest, white sheer blouse, yellow overlay on dress, white pantaloons, full crinoline, white socks, black shoes. Doll: hair is a little mussed OR C, she’s missing her shoes. Box: normal vtg wear and missing cardboard insert. Price guide: $60.· #484, 8’” BO PEEP, Storyland Dolls Series? Made between 1976-1986. Doll has both the wrist tag (with spot on it), outer clothing tag. She has blonde hair, dark sleep eyes, sheer blouse underneath black velvet vest that is over a green skirt with floral overlay w/matching bonnet, pantaloons, stockings, black slip-on shoes. Doll: hair is a bit mussed in the back. Box: only minor edge/corner wear, a price tag on lid. Price guide: $60.· #14540, 8” CINDERELLA, Storyland Dolls, Brothers Grimm Series. Made between 1995-1996. Doll has the wrist tag, inside clothing tag, doll club & doll registrations, NOS. Also have POOR CINDERELLA. The doll has blonde hair that is pulled up and back and she wears a gold crown. Here sleepy eyes are blue (on box) in color—they look more brownish to me. She is wearing a princess dress: high, lacy collar w/same lace at end of sleeves, light pink dress with darker pink sheer overlay, purple ribbon w/roses across bodice, white satin full slip, pantaloons, white stockings, gold slip-on shoes. Doll, pristine condition, lovely doll. Box: only minor edge/corner wear. Price guide: $65.· #146505, 8”, CYRANO (de Burgerec) Storyland Dolls Series. Made in 1994 only. Doll has both wrist and outside clothing tags and has a doll registration form. The doll has dark brown hair, dark eyes and a huge nose. He is wearing a Cavalier hat w/plume, gold satin cape with gold lame trim over handsome 2-pc outfit, accented with beige lace around the collar and sleeves w/brown leather boots. Comes with doll stand. Doll: pristine. Box: does show some wear around the corners, edges, shows a little scuffing and has an original price tag Price Guide: $65.· #454, 8” GRETEL, Storyland Dolls Series, Made between 1976-1986. Doll has both wrist and outer clothing tags. NOS. The doll has blonde hair, dark eyes wearing a Scandinavian-style outfit, white blouse with black laced vest and red skirt with floral apron and matching bonnet, with a white slip, pantaloons and stockings and black slip-on shoes. Doll: excellent but hair stitching could be less noticeable manufacturer’s flaw). Box has noticeable flaws throughout. Price Guide: $60· #463, 8”, HANSEL, No date of production info. Doll is missing the wrist tag but does have the outer clothing tag. He is from the Storyland Series. He has blonde hair, dark eyes and wears a bycocket w/a feather atop it. He is in a one pc outfit: red shorts, suspenders, blue floral top, white socks, black shoes and comes with a red purse. Doll 's eyes stick. Box has visible corner/edge wear, box not properly put together, original price tag. Price Guide: not listed· #455, 8” JACK, Storyland Dolls Series. Made between 1987-1992, Doll has both wrist and outer clothing tags, NOS. The doll has auburn hair, blue/grey eyes and is wearing a one-piece romper and sailor hat. Comes with a pail. Doll is coming apart, the bands have given way but the individual parts are in excellent condition and this can be easily re-banded. Box is rated B+, with only a few small areas where color has worn off at corners and around edges, may find a small crease or two. Doll has long curly red hair, blue eyes and is wearing a red velvet cape w/hood, green dress w/white/red trim, panties, slip, white socks, brown shoes and comes with a basket of apples and a stand. Doll's hair is a little mussed. Box is in excellent condition.#451, 8” MARY, MARY, Storyland Dolls Series. 1973-1975. Doll has both wrist and outer clothing tags, NOS. Doll has blonde hair, dark eyes and is wearing a country-style frock, blue floral dress, lace collar & sleeve edges, big pink gardening apron with lots of pockets and carries a watering can. comes with a stand. Doll has loose joints. Box has noticeable repair on top of the box, but the underside of the bottom box shows remnant of some truly old Christmas wrapping, that’s a plus in my book. the initials H.R. in pencil on label. Doll's hair is a bit mussed & the head is a bit loose, not too much, it does not sag. Box has some small spots inside, not very noticeable. Doll: nothing wrong with doll I am just assuming it has been out of its box, no paperwork. Doll has blonde hair, dark eyes and is wearing beautiful white tunic that is topped with a bunny ear hat, w/blue pants, both trimmed with gold edging with white stockings and gold slip-on shoes. w/bunny ears. Comes with a bugle. Doll is in pristine condition. Box has some very minor corner wear & original price tag. No price guide amount shown.
