Description: Condition: -Tested and working- This monitor was purchased 'Lightly Used' around 4-5 years ago from an electronics recycling company, presumably from someone who discarded it - what a foolish decision ! It came in excellent condition with presumably moderate use as all functions worked properly and the screen was neither too bright nor dim. Over the past 4-ish years, I have never used this monitor full time or for very long, but rather occasionally to test/compare videos and images as part of a larger collection of monitors. Probably I have added 300 hours or less to its total use. - It has been used interchangeably with several other monitors which I use for various purposes over that time. - Total hours of use is not precisely known to me, but estimated at a rather moderate level for its age. - Over its life, every precaution has been taken to optimize performance & longevity and to maintain the item, both physically and operationally. (cleaning, calibrating, keeping asleep or off when not in use, being mindful of brightness and contrast etc.) - No issues with performance have been experienced thus far with this monitor. No strange geometry, buzzing, popping or distortion or color fading occur. - I have taken some videos to demonstrate that it is working well - taken today (you have to download the video for full quality);- Message me for links to these videos due to eBay rules prohibiting me from linking them. About this model: - C520K is a Sony Artisan monitor that was targeted at the photographers and other professionals in the field. Chassis designation CR1, shared with G520 and F520. Very simple internal layout with one motherboard, more reliable circuitry, hour counter, faster flyback capable of doing higher refresh rates and so on. (Compared to previous Sony models utilizing Sony G1 and G1W chassis designations). Basically, on paper more advanced and capable than the famed FW-9000, albeit in 4:3 ratio rather than 16:10. It would be accurate to say this was the most advanced and last Sony CRTs ever produced before finally ending production and switching over to LCDs exclusively. Manufactured: - September 2002- Made in Mexico- a Sony Trinitron monitor- model : GDM-C520K (Artisan Color Reference System) Manual available online via Google of the phrase 'Sony GDM-520K Manual' Artisan Upgrade Kit / refreshment: - As indicated in photos, This monitor was sold to me as 'upgraded with the Sony 'Artisan Upgrade Kit'' by an TV service shop on 5/11/2009. Thusly, it could be said to be in newer condition than a comparable used monitor of the same age. (estimated mfg. date of replacements parts - 2004) - An excerpt from a forum post (forum.luminous-landscape.com) from a professional TV sales/repairman circa 2008 who operated on eBay, and who likely was the same person who upgraded this monitor (Unkle Vito! - eBay *****seller): ------------------------------------------------------------ "A few weeks back, we've received from a closing Sony Service Center, a large number of Sony GDM-C520K Artisan monitor upgrade kits, complete with brand new tubes, yokes, poles, and all the internal components and boards. Shipping: - This monitor is available for:1. Local pickup 2. FedEx Ground or Express (at request of buyer) 3. Only available to US CONUS - Total shipping cost is a guesstimate based on previous sales in past years, likely $100-$150. Shipping Notes: - The original box is not available. This item will ship in a specially bought double-walled cardboard box of at least 24X24 size (weighted for a max load of 85 lbs (about 20 lbs more than the monitor itself), re-padded and packaged to match the original shipping method as closely as possible.- This method can be deduced by comparing to other, similar sized monitors whose boxes I have owned, unpacked, and shipped before myself. - The item will be fully wrapped in layers of bubble wrap, and braced with styrofoam bracers derived from other electronics packages on multiple sides, as well as insulation materials, cardboard/paper filler, bubble fillers and/or other filler materials placed to stiffen the box and provide shock absorption. - Photos of the packaging process and final package will be taken and provided before shipping in order to insure agreement about packaging methods. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMERS: 1. During shipment, the screen may or may not be influenced by magnets from nearby devices. It is recommended to use the de-gauss function before adjusting the geometry or other image settings. In the case of a very strong magnet, a de-gaussing coil might be needed to restore the image to proper geometry. This is a common feature of all CRT displays and not a defect. 2. I hereby state that I am not a professional service man, a monitor repair shop or a refurbisher. Monitor was never opened during my ownership. It was never repaired, modified or refurbished by any means, by me, or anybody else during my ownership. 'Used' means that I have spent some hours utilizing it before I have offered it for sale, declaring it as in working condition . Monitor is sold as-is at time of sale. The CRT display is over 20 years old and therefore there are inherent risks and responsibilities that come with using it. Therefore the sale is provided without any warranties or guarantees. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. By buying this item, you declare that you understand these conditions and accept them.
