Description: 2056----c.1910 Rocky Grove High School class photo - Franklin PA - all id'd Original cabinet photo of the Rocky Grove High School of Franklin PA. We've determined this to be "circa 1910." All the students are identified clearly on the reverse in pencil. It appears the students are in order from top row, left to right, proceeding down to bottom row. Rocky Grove HS did not have very large graduating classes during this period, so this photo probably incorporates grades 8-12 or 9-12. Overall there are 39 people in the photo, with 38 names on the back. We've concluded the lady in the middle row, far left, is the teacher and was not included on the list. One has to keep in mind NOT to include the teacher when matching names with faces. There are 12 boys names, and all are in the front row, which does it make easier to decipher. There are also two girls on the far right, bottom, which are listed last. We recently acquired several items from the Franklin area, which concerned the Sheffer and Heckard families, most notably Edith Heckard, who was a very well known teacher for decades at Rocky Grove. Her name is listed as the 20th student on the list, which would place her in the middle row, 5th girl from the right, standing beside the girl in the fancy dress. Based on other photos we have seen, this is definitely Edith Heckard. We know that Miss Heckard began her teaching career in 1911, so we are assuming she graduated with the Class of 1911. Perhaps this is her class photo. The photo is in VG condition with some minor border issues. One bent corner and a little tear on one border. Measuring 9 x 7.
