Description: 2022 Philippines 150 Piso Gomburza Commemorative coin This coin commemorates the 150th year anniversary of the martyrdom of Fathers Mariano Gomes de los Angeles, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora, collectively known as GOMBURZA. The royal decree of 1774, which provided for the secularization of all parishes or the transfer of parochial authority to Filipino priests (“seculares”), was strongly opposed by the Spanish friars (“regulares”). It was against this charged environment that GOMBURZA were accused and found guilty of allegedly orchestrating the Cavite Mutiny of 1872, and charged with treason and sedition by Spanish authorities. They were sentenced to public execution by garrote in the same year. GOMBURZA served as an inspiration for Jose Rizal’s historic work, El Filibusterismo. This coin is made of Nordic Gold, which is 89% Cu, 5% Al, 5% Zn, and 1% Sn. It has a diameter of 34.0 mm and weighs 15.0 grams. It has a Golden finish. This coin was minted by the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas. It is still in it's mint issued holder. I have listed other coins and notes from the Philippines.
