Description: For your consideration are two handcrafted one-of-a-kind metal sculptures on driftwood, signed by artist "MS," from Monterey, California. Each one depicts a wharf or dock. Both were purchased at the same time, in 1977, from the artist who worked and sold his wares in a converted loft space in one of Cannery Row's canneries. If I remember correctly, his space was across the street from the Steinbeck Theater, which sadly is no more. The larger of the two has a sign pointing towards Cannery Row. The dock has a pail, two oars, and a railing of twisted wire. It is about 9 1/4" tall. The pier is about 4 7/8" high. The smaller one is about 1" shorter. It has a pail, coiled rope, and two oars leaning up against the railing. A small bird is perched atop the stanchion, a nice artistic touch. Its deck is nearly as tall as the other one. The driftwood has dried out some, but it's intact and does not negatively affect its presentation.
