Description: I have here an Extremely Rare 2" Bell Labs Western Electric Unfinished Silicon Wafer. I had acquired this in a lot of Bell Labs Western Electric Wafers from a seller. This comes from the same lot as`https://www.ebay.com/itm/265858964571 Unfinished wafers are always an interesting addition to any Silicon Wafer Collection since they are usually very rare and not many can be found in general because of the nature of it being unfinished and most of them are 1 offs. EDIT 11/13/23 It is also possible this might be some sort of Test Wafer, but not too sure. EDIT 4/10/23: The Wafers I received in this Bell Labs/ Western Electric Lot have been verified as Western Electric by a buyer of one of the Wafers in this lot, that was purchased a few months ago. The Buyer had notified me a few weeks after to let me know this information. " Ah, wow, I spotted some further proof that your original seller of the A3083 wafer was telling the truth. Remember that A3083 wafer i got off you last year? I originally told you at the time that the Axxxx codes meant it was probably made in the Allentown (PA) plant? And I sent you that snippet of another A2627 wafer recently (froma documentary) that was made in the Allentown semiconductor fab, and it had a similar font for the code etched into the dies? Well, I just found validation on wikipedia that proves 100% that Allentown did fabricate ICs, AND they had Bell Labs engineers there at their local lab that also designed. I remembered you had said the following: --------------------- By the way, I was checking through my past correspondence and was looking at the messages with the son of the Bell Labs Engineer, and thought I Would share some of what he said. "My father, who worked as an IC designer for Bell/WEco, gave them to me years ago. I have the wafer but not the photo, nor any further any details other than it was one he designed while at the Union Boulevard works." ---------- I didn't know until just now, but it turns out that "Union Boulevard" literally was the Allentown plant (the same plant). So yes, he really was a Bell Labs design engineer stationed at a WECO laboratory at the Union Boulevard plant in Allentown (Pensylvania). 100% true. So thanks for those great snippets - it took me until now to finally locate the missing links to prove them correct!" To note, I have another Western Electric Wafer for Sale that wasn't from this lot, which was the son of the Engineer mentioned above. ---------------------- Open to offers. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. I will be listing many unique, rare, one-of-a-kind, vintage CPU, Computer Chips, Silicon Wafers, and other parts in the following weeks, so if there is any interest or inquiry into something I might have, please don't hesitate to ask! Thank you for your time with viewing my listing, I appreciate it. I hope you have a great day! NOTE: Handling time is set to 10 days because I normally end up having buyers who want more than 1 item, so a few days can go by before the full transaction is completed; however, the handling time set for each item has to be obeyed or else penalties happen to me, so I set the handling time to a time that shouldn't cause problems. I have been recently notified(10/24/22) that some buyers are concerned about the long handling times so I want to make everyone completely aware of the situation. After THE FULL Transaction is complete(the buyer is done choosing listings to purchase, and ready for shipment), I normally try to ship the day of completion or the next day(depending if transaction completion happens early enough in the day and on a weekday), but 2-3 regular days(not business days) would be the maximum handling time. I do not want buyers to have to wait for their product after purchase, I just want to make sure buyers have selected everything they want to purchase, before I ship, as most of my buyers thus far have wanted more than 1 item, while at the same time make sure I do not get penalized, because even if a buyer is okay with waiting, I have to obey the times set by the site. Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for your time with viewing my listing, I really appreciate it. If you have any questions at all about this issue, or anything else I can answer for you / help-you-with, please do not hesitate to ask. I am here to make the Buyer's experience completely satisfactory, so let me know if there is anything I can do for you! I hope you have a fantastic day!
