Description: Two books by Col. Robert G. Ingersoll. Ingersoll was an American lawyer, writer, and orator during the Golden Age of Free Thought, who campaigned in defense of agnosticism. He was nicknamed "The Great Agnostic". Even true believers came to hear his debates with local and national theologians to laugh at his cheerful quick wit. He was also one of the earliest male champions of equal rights for women. The books are: Great Speeches, Wit, Wisdom, and Eloquence of Col. R. G. Ingersoll published in 1881 by Rhodes & McClure in Chicago. It's cover and spine are faded. The book 157 pages and measures 5 3/8" by 7 1/2". The Gods and Other Lectures by Robert G. Ingersoll, published in 1975 by Gordon Press. It is in like-new condition and contain 253 pages and measures 6 1/4" by 9 1/4". See photos for condition.
