This in NO WAY effects the integrity or strength of the tie down. It is just a discoloration from the packaging that occurred in storage. WE HAND PICK THEM TO ASSURE YOUR SATISFACTION.While these are new and never installed, we are offering them at a discount because of the discoloration. This flaw will NOT show once installed as the effected area will be inside the bed. Please see the pics of one of these installed in a bed. These are being offered without the factory packaging. They simply pop in the factory hole in the sides of the bed and you screw them down. Very simple installation. If you want like new items with no discoloration, a factory box and instructions, please see our other listings also being offered at a great savings!The factory cardboard box that held these items got wet and the glue in the cardboard has stuck to and caused some discoloration and corrosion on the fingers. In fact on some of them, I've peeled some of the residual cardboard off of the fingers and the discoloration or glue residue remained on them and that is what you are seeing. These are manufactured with a galvanized plated aluminum so I suppose you could label it corrosion that the glue and moisture caused to the plating on the fingers. All the tie downs will be affected and that is why they are deeply discounted. We have hand picked each one. The hinges are in no way affected - just the appearance of the fingers as pictured. The ones pictured in the listing description are a depiction of one set of the thousands of sets we have of these. These are genuine GM parts designed to fit GMC and Chevrolet trucks - Silverado and Sierra models. These tie downs fit into the stake hole pockets on top of the bed rails or the oval holes located in the sides of the bed under the rails. They allow you to strap down your load. These were specifically designed to fit new style 2007 thru current model year full size GM trucks. HOWEVER - we have tried these in Dodge Ram and Ford Super Duty series trucks and they will fit them as well. While designed for the GM line, it appears they will fit universally in other truck lines as well as they drop down in the stake pocket or bedside mounting holes and then are threaded to expand in the hole.We have found these to fit: Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Dodge Ram, Ford Super Duty F250 F350, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Nissan Frontier. These are just a few we have tried so there are probably many more.These require NO DRILLING and NO TOOLS to install or remove! Simply insert the unit into the hole and twist the loop to tighten them down.
